Old legs

Anybody else feel we taken the 'experience' element of the squad quite far enough?

In addition to ageless Ronnie, we now have Revell, Cuthbert, Timlin, Byrom and Campbell-Ryce all over 30.
Unless we can move them on you can add Smith and Martin (who must be in his early sixties, judging by his pace).

Time for one or two more early twenties to go with the aged and the yoof?

My mate is a Southend fan and reckons Timlin will still do a good job.

Likewise another mate of mine is a Luton fan and said Cuthbert is great and he's surprised they let him go.

Whilst I'm not expecting either of them to add any pace to the side, I think their experience is a welcome addition.

JCR will be a squad player, as will Byrom. Ronnie will be used less frequently this season too, I suspect.

We've been thinking this for the last few summers now, it's bound to come true sooner or later!

With the exception of Scott Laird aged 30 I'd agree.

Very much so! Looks like lack of pace in the side will still be a massive issue.

Why do all your posts need an edit?

Is it because you can't believe the shite you posted first time round?

Revell Tomlin and Cuthbert could be the spine of the team. Experienced. The whole team doesn't need pace but we do need some pace. Not sure all 6 you mention would play at the same time. Campbell Ryce although 30 odd is still very fit apparently. We'll see.

If we will have players like McKee and Newton (arguably our best two players lat year) and add some pace elsewhere it might be a good balance. We have another two hungry players added from non league.

I wouldn't be looking to bring in any more "experience" though, I agree.

Campbell Ryce maybe 35 but look at the likes of Mcanuff and Guppy they managed to do a good job for their age. Correct me if I'm wrong but I belive Guppy was 37 but still looked a decent player.

Don't disagree with any of that. Three hungry players from non-league, I think. I would also take another chance with Marriott and make it four.
We need at least one more striker. I guess Dino's options are dependent on shifting out Smith, Martin and Goddard, whose face clearly doesn't fit.

We struggled last season with too many youngsters coming through at once ...
Yes it’s great for the club to be bringing on these young lads and yes they have talent but we also need to show ambition and try get out this league again you know how this town is if we aren’t in the FA Cup playing a big prem team or top of the table every week and in the news every five minutes people don’t want to know ..
For the first time in many years I’m excited to be a Boro fan again and that’s down to some good and exciting dealings by Dino I want to watch experienced players that know the gene abd the league with a scattering of youngsters here and there not just thrown into the pot all together at once !!!

Bring on the season !!!

That is all x

GW got us promoted with a team of folk who were all of the same mind. I am hoping that Dino has got the view that he can get the chosen players to want to perform. It is their shop window as well as our entertainment. Anybody who has joined hoping for an easy ride will soon be wanting out. I really reserve judgement but thinking positively we will be in top half of table come January with a view to fine tuning. if not then it MAY be the season after.............with a new mix.
