My son has gone to Comic Con at the Excel with mates.

Got off to a great start waiting an hour for anything resembling a train to appear.

He's paid a lot of money for tickets and extras and doesn't earn much. Fair to say I'm fucking fuming. Again.

Delay repay won't touch what he's losing out on by getting there over an hour later than planned.

Not as disappointed as having a son who wants to go to Comic Con though, surely?

Frankly I am impressed you admitted it on the internet.

He's an adult.

Lots of adults like comics.

Just ask Pat or Paulio.

(No, I don't get the fascination either, like collecting stickers of foreign footballers. Odd).

It's absolutely appalling. I'm not sure how Great Northern are getting away with saying it's owing to engineering works, when there are none. Disgraceful company.

I love how the new timetable delivers unexpected surprises, it gives you the time after you've arrived expecting to get on a a train, to explore all the shops at Kings Cross, to take a coffee and admire the panoramic views at Stevenage.

They don't rush you along, the driver takes the time to slow down so that you can admire the scarred brickwork in the Welwyn tunnels, the golfers meandering the fairways at Brookmans Park and the sheep outside Knebowrth.

Or sometimes if you are really lucky, they speed through stations they inferred they might stop at, just to give you the opportunity to relive a small part of the journey all over again in reverse.

Hour and a fucking half after getting on the 13:21 at Kings Cross, that's when I arrived in Baldock. Might have mentioned it on Twitter.

I usually entertain myself by seeing if I can get the oldest Pasty - it's a fiver well spent or a packet of fags for under 20 quid - fucking Country has gone to the dogs

how can it be that I get 20 fags for 3 Euro in Tenerife and all the roads are like Grand Prix tracks - smooth as a millpond and yet half of my earnings gets paid in tax in the UK - what for exactly ?

When I first moved oop north, I couldn't believe how frequently late, cancelled or overcrowded the services were compared to the reasonably reliable and well stocked ones I was used to with (then) WAGN.

First week of the new timetable, my Northern Rail service which was perpetually late is now arriving on time and three minutes earlier than before, even on a strike day.

Don't know what you've got til its gone.

You have to remember this is a " much improved service".
Of course if you count improvements as less trains and more cancellations. At the same time as fares going up again.
I have already put in a compensation claim for every day this week.
The other joke is that Govia's franchise agreement means they reclaim any compo paid out back from Network Rail meaning in effect we are compensating ourselves as this is government funded.
These franchise companies ,many foreigned owned, are laughing all the way too the bank.
Trouble with this government is they it beyond their comprehension some things should be a service not something run to pay for itself rather than a cash cow for their friends.

RANT OVER

If it's the operators fault rather than network rails they won't be able to claim it back from network rail and it will be the operator who takes the hit on the claims.

Govia is a management contract rather than a franchise so they're just paid a small amount to do what DfT tell them to do largely, and they get bonuses/lose money based on their performance. If these issues are the fault of the operator they will be losing out
