Is Dino the first former Boro player to take the permanent managers job?

Wracking my brains and can’t think of another.

Cloughie and Monty both turned out for us, but weren't players first.

What happened to Gordon Allinson? Vic Folbigg has replaced him but still has Allinson's old profile. Talk to me, Mr Pete.

Ooh, thanks for spotting that.

I have conflicting sources of info about the early days; on one hand, I've been told Gordon Allinson *did* manage us, but also that he *did not* manage us. Well, the first team at least. Looking through newspapers from the time supports the latter more.

Can you shed any light on it?

I don't believe Gordon Allinson managed us but I recall his son (I believe) Martin playing at full back.

And Luton and Colchester, and is now St Albans Manager. Keith Allinson was our physio during the cloughie days and early GW days IIRC.

Ian, Keith and Martin all turned out for us as players:

Ian: www.boroguide.co.uk/players/player.php?ID=254
Keith: www.boroguide.co.uk/players/player.php?ID=180
Martin: www.boroguide.co.uk/players/player.php?ID=19

Weirdly, it seems Keith made his debut for us in 1981. Not sure if that's right, but that info definitely came from a programme or newspaper...

Ian had another brother too called Graham - he was goalie for Cygnet Rovers back in late 70's / 80's when I played for them - did I ever tell you I won Player of the Year? :)
