Independent Article on Ben Wilmott

Just spotted this:

BTW he was an unused sub today as England beat Hungary 4-1. Hopefully he'll get his chance in one of the other matches coming up.

Came on today in a 3-0 win, well done Ben and hope you’ve sorted a move rather than come home to this rubbish.

I like this bit "Watford bid £500,000 for him. Tottenham Hotspur offered slightly less"

Translated "we literally couldn't give a fuck that your club operates at a loss and struggles to compete as a professional outfit. To be honest we don't really know why teams like you exist. In fact we've even launched a club shop in your town to try and steal as much of your fan base as possible - we'd rather people sat at home watching tv in a spurs shirt than come to watch you lot a few times a year.....

Anyway, I know you'd like £1m to keep running as a half decent business and potentially produce more players like this, but here's what one of our players earns in a month, can we have that kid for our youth team?"

At a guess they set up a club shop to sell some mugs and DVDs, not to pillage our fans.

Have a like.
Good spot and Langford is my middle name too.

My first name is Bonnie, (I was born on The Clyde) imagine the stick I used to get!

I hope BW has a long and very fulfilling career.

Really do wish him all the best for the future, the only thing I can see would hold him back from the top level is a slight lack of pace.

A very, very exciting prospect and one who deserves to do well.

Lack of pace at 18 isn't career limiting or defining. It could be that he hasn't developed fully aerobically yet. As his muscle to weight ratio increases his should get quicker.

I used to watch Gareth Bale at Southampton. As an 18 year old, he really wasn't reknowned for his pace. However, by 22/23 he developed considerably and turned into a speed daemon.

Hopefully his reading of the game should be able to compensate for a lack of pace.

Depends on whether his new club want him to play at League 2 or League 1 level next season.
