Knob in the East

By jayess10/2 20:44Sat Feb 10 20:44:41 2018

First day as a refugee on the East Terrace today and for 45 minutes we had to put up with constant moronic foul mouthed chants from a knob standing right at the back at the very far (Northern) end. It was mindless, obscene and became increasingly racist.
Thinking enough was enough I reported him to the stewards at half time and discovered several others had done the same. It took a while but eventually he was removed. So many thanks to the female supervisor who made this happen.
Oh for the peace and quiet of the North. Get a move on, Phil.

Glad I missed it all, anyone seen doing this should be outed by our fans to the stewards/police at the game so they can be dealt with.

Same goes for the knob who let the flare off.

I also heard the abuse that this idiot was hurling towards the pitch. Honestly, you could see the amount of brain cells he had by just looking at him, along with about 6 missing teeth. Very well done to the people that reported him to the stewards, we don't need people like that supporting the club, especially when there are kids around.

Agreed, and I also hope that someone shops the idiot who had the flare. Someone in that area would’ve seen who had it and held it.

I was about 2 metres from where it started but not possible to identify who let it off. It would have been one of a group and they won't grass their mates up.

I heard someone say it was a year 11 if that's any help. Or maybe that was the one being sick

I thought it was me. I stand on the East, and people all around me keep saying I’m a bit of a knob. I didn’t have any flares on though. Haven’t worn those since at least 2006.

I'm guessing it's a veiled reference to the fact that I reported homophobic abuse to the club a few weeks ago. Because I have a moral compass.

Therefore in the eyes of one individual it's all my fault that they are now being investigated for their actions and they are obviously now the victim because they have no sense whatsoever of personal responsibility for their actions.

I could be completely wrong however and it could be that I just have an admirer, which would be lovely. They do say imitation is a form of flattery.

There were a fair few Luton on the East today. Made no effort to disguise themselves or their joy when Luton scored. Stewards weren’t interested.

I guess it's a question of doing nothing until you have to

Had the Luton fans caused trouble or the home fans were starting trouble with them, then the stewards would intervene ...I hope
The problem was where could they go as the away end was full

I think we should be tolerant but prefer them to be escorted to the away end

No issue for me if they behave like grown ups and don't draw attention to themselves. All money for our club.

Allows the stewards to focus on the fuckwits, ours and/or theirs, whether that is during the game when there may be flashpoints as a result of steward intervention on the terrace, which increases the likelihood of injury to stewards and innocent bystanders, or after the final whistle, using CCTV to identify the idiots and take appropriate action later.

I agree. There's probably less chance of causing a disturbance if they're not causing a real issue in the first place. Not ideal, but always likely to happen if the demand is greater than the away capacity.

Just as an interesting aside, the steward by us kept to the letter of the law with some vigour if the edge of a shoe happened to venture into the yellow hatched area. When it was pointed out that the Luton lot were blatantly standing in their aisles and why weren’t the stewards in the away end doing anything, he said ‘we can’t control them. We can control you’.

So, if you’re a law-abiding Stevenage fan they’ll come down hard for the slightest indiscretion, but if you’re an away fan who couldn’t care less about the rules you can carry on regardless without interference! Kind of makes a mockery of the supposed importance of the stairway health n safety issue, not to mention being discriminatory and offensive to the club’s own loyal supporters.

I don't agree with the fan making racist comments because regardless what team or culture a player represents and comes from he's only doing his job and I hope he gets a life ban from all stadiums.

For the majority of Luton fans who were in the East terrace isn't at all surprising after they requested further tickets which Boro refused and I guess our stewards did nothing because they were behaving themselves, but in my opinion our stewards should be following the rules of the other football league clubs which is any away supporters found to be in the home end will be rejected.
