A hard fought point

By Boromatt21/1 10:35Sun Jan 21 10:35:36 2018

Probably the most physical match I've seen so far this season, IMO a very hard fought point. A clean sheet, keeps the unbeaten run at home going, a 9 point cushion from the drop and 5 points from our last 3 matches, not bad. Yesterday just reminded me of a typical league two match up, wet conditions, long balls and a bloody physical style of play.

I thought the boys battled hard yesterday, we had our moments, two half chances in the first half from shots and some good set up play going forward, in all honesty, I thought it was just 2 brilliant showings from both defences. Danny Newton worked extremely hard, won quite a few headers and won his battles in there, the midfield battled and I thought the backline especially in the second half was superb. An aireal assault at times and I thought we dealt with it really well, every cross in the box was met by one if our boys. Sometimes we can't always win and I actually look at yesterday as a point gained considering the type of match it was. 35 points, realistically I'd say another 5 wins definitely gets us over the dotted line and to safety for another season. I understand everyone wanted a win, but at times we have to settle for a point, yesterday was one of those days. Thoughts?

Bring on Chesterfield next week!

Plenty of side roads near the ground - look out for resident parking only.
You get 3 hours in Tesco car park adjacent to the stadium if you time your stay accordingly.

To eat there are plenty of take away outlets on Whittington Moor, thats Sheffield Road towards Sheffield, plenty of pubs also.

There is a cafe in the Community Hub at the back of the ground where coaches park.

How do you feel about the game.

Bit of a trudge to be fair, you can park nearby and walk under the underpass. Have your meal and then park in Tesco would be my suggestion.

Cannot say if recent upturn will have an effect on the crowd/parking but you should be fine I would say.

It is heartening that we are all now starting to realise that survival is our main aim now this season.

So I think we need a line in the sand - a good old fashioned deadline as they say

6 games coming up between now and February 17th. Anything less than 9/18 - I think we need regime change . Thoughts ?

Chesterfield (A) - D
Swindon (H) - W
Norman Stanley Fletcher (A) - L
Luton (H) - D/L
Forest Green (A) - W
Yeovil (H) - W

Briefly discussed this on Twitter with Baldy last night, I honestly don't see a win in the next four. At best I see two draws and two defeats. Then we have FGR and Yeovil in, by that stage, two huge games, before two more very tough ones in Mansfield and Notts County.

By the end of those eight games I fully expect us to be in full panic mode.

Amongst the fanbase, I doubt it. The ET goes into meltdown nearly as fast as Borochat and the twitters. Which isn't conducive to positivity.

In the squad... I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I also think Swindon might turn us over. And Luton.

Ease up.

One cannot simply go full-Farley, it's like training for a marathon, you have to do it incrementally.

Start by predicting home draws, narrow away defeats and build from there to away draw predictions.

Wallace won’t move on Sarrl during the season if we’re safe, which we are. No way we’ll get relegated. Looks like it coild be a dull 3 months!

I think we should pin this to the top of the forum Rob :) ' ... No way we'll get relegated'

I think if we fail to win at least win 3 of these then Wallace needs to act and show all our current management team the door for good.

The most important people at Boro (the fans) deserve much better then the current performances they've been witnessing.

The Lincoln match was far more physical.

But was yesterday that physical at all? A lot of niggly fouls but other than that not a lot stood out. They played two big men up front but didn’t really use their height.

Can you see 5 wins coming?

I'm not sure I can. I'd like to think we'll get them, plus a few more draws, but we've got some tough games coming up.

I find myself hoping Westley fucks Barnet right up to halve the available relegation slots.

And a home draw, unless it's against a bloody good team, or an average team who played really well, neither of which applies to Carlisle, is two points dropped for me.

it was a non-league-type slug-fest devoid of flair with both sides defending well to close the game down on a soggy pitch. So you got that element right, albeit more positively than I can manage this morning.

Looking at the Table apart from Barnet everyone has crept up to around 1 point a game average, which suggests we will need more points than usual to be safe, 50+ I would say. Unless we get some fresh impetus from signings I think we’ll be scrapping for our lives come March/ April, we’ll probably be ok but it shouldn’t have come to this.

I'd like to think we can get 5 wins, but as everyone knows, every match in this league is a tough.
