Following a very poor FA Cup draw, the SA's eShop will re-open this evening for SA memberships.

I have never agreed with this policy of suspending SA membership merely because the club may get a decent draw . I believe in the long run it would be better to encourage people to join the SA even if it is for the hope of getting a ticket for a good draw. For example, if we had allowed SA membership to continue on this occasion we may have had a few more members.

It's something the SA has done in conjunction with the Club over the past few seasons.

The objective is to protect the existing membership in the event of an all ticket tie, in particular a home tie against a London or major Premiership side. We kept membership open the year we were drawn at home to Spurs, and over 100 joined on-line within an hour of the draw. Yes, it generated more members/income for the SA, but a high percentage were probably Spurs fans, and that created major concern within the Club. If we had kept it open any longer, we could not have ensured that members got ticket priority, and could have lead to segregation issues. Given that the ground capacity is likely to less for the remainder of this season with the loss of the North Terrace it was even more important.

Hope that clarifies our thinking, which has been endorsed by members at an earlier AGM.

We’ve lost the North Stand already?? Bit bloody careless. I bet it’s that Gaz Murray that’s nicked it.

It's a right downer of a draw to be honest.
