More or less than Turgott.

Why do people care so much about players leaving who haven't contributed anything. It's no loss because we never gained anything from having them.

Sure in the hypothetical world of everyone potentially being superb it could be considered a great loss but in reality it makes zero difference to the team.

Beautyman wasn’t even given a chance to contribute in his favoured position, despite Pett and Gorman being totally useless in the middle together.

Turgott didn’t get a chance at all.

Baffling. And a waste of money.

A squad that could/should have been challenging the playoffs minimum is bumbling around doing nothing.

It ain't complicated, Beautyman didn't get on with Darren and/or vice versa, happens at lots of clubs on a regular basis.

Doesn't mean Sarll was a twat to him, could've been either way or both ways. Doesn't mean Harry wasn't a good player.

Westley fucked players out of the club with impunity, he openly admitted that only a proportion of signings ever work our.

Smith did it with Ronnie.

It happens. It's not unusual.

Perhaps Darren was a complete cock towards him?

Perhaps Harry kicked off at being left out of the team or refused to play out of position?

Perhaps he came to work hungover?

These conspiracy theories don't make sense to me.

If strange things were going on the senior players (Day, Henry, King...) plus Roeder would make noises to PW. And then action be taken.

It's just a couple of players either not fitting in with the managers plans or not being the right character, for me.

Would they seriously go to see PW? I can see that PW might have a quiet word in their ear when he saw the opportunity to - and that might have prompted his somewhat candid comments of late, but I can’t see senior players seeking out the chairman behind the manager’s back unless there was something seriously wrong. Not playing Beautyman and a few others isn’t likely to be the catalyst for them to do this. People are often unhappy at work and ultimately look for fresh opportunities rather than stabbing the boss in the back.

Don’t be daft. There’s nothing seriously wrong. We’re in no danger of getting relegated and we should stick by the manager. I’ve gone on record saying that.

But, to reiterate, in my opinion the football this season has been the worst since Gary Smith was manager. The squad looks capable of achieving more in this division, which is a very weak division. Team selection and team formation has been repetitive despite us shipping 7 to Luton and losing 8 away from home on the bounce. Basically, the league season can already be written off. So I would say we are underachieving. Two of the four KPIs are not being met and I have no confidence that Sarll can meet these. I know that not every team can be top of the league, but I just find it all to be so frustrating.

To give him his dues, when he changed the system last season we played attractive intensive football, with Charlie Lee playing in front of the back four, and with Schumacher and McAnuff on top form. I appreciate we’ve lost all of those players and I’m not going to criticise Sarll for that as I don’t know the circumstances, but I blame him for his intransigence in terms of playing 4-4-2 this season when we clearly don’t have the players to play 4-4-2.

Cos nobody has seen him play in months so clubs were unwilling to take a punt? Similarly, nobody is willing to take a punt on Gorman cos they’ve seen him play each week. ;-)

I reckon Beautyman was ostracised cos the manager saw him take a knee during the singing of “Darren Sarll’s Barmy Army”.

Anyway, Sarllz knows best. Just ask Keinan Davis.

I think getting rid of him is a stupid move. Obvs we don’t know the reasons - which may well be good and valid of course - but as an observer I feel this is a bad move. I may be in the minority saying this, but Beautyman always looked to me like a decent player with a good work rate, so I’d be keen to know the reasons why he’s gone.

It’s not in isolation which is why it gets this reaction. Surely we didn’t sign them all and suddenly go, “oh wait, they’re all shit”.

Ferry is still with us isn't he? Just not considered ready yet.

We don't why Turgott and Beautyman weren't favoured but that's the manager's prerogative.

New signings are never guaranteed and a 50% success rate would be considered good. Whether it's because they don't perform as well as you hoped or they don't fit in with the group dynamic / have an unsettling influence it's better for both sides to move on.

Won't be the first, won't be the last.

And some might even go on to be better at other clubs because for whatever reason they fit in there better.

I see this now as an exciting time because we might bring in someone who does tick all the boxes for Stevenage.

I would have liked to see Beautyman be given at least one chance in his primary position before he was deemed not good enough.

Sarll doesn’t know what he’s doing. Insisting on playing Pett in central midfield for as long as he did proves that.

That isn’t an error. That isn’t experimenting. It was painfully obvious to everyone and he has shown time and time again that he simply can’t pick the right players in the right positions.

You cannot sit there and tell me that Beautyman isn’t better than Pett in central midfield. You can’t tell me he’s not better than Gorman. I don’t know for sure he’s better; we never got a chance to see. But I’d have bet a substantial about of money to say he is better than both of them. Comfortably so.

Sarll doesn't have authority or respect from grown men because of the bullshit (lack of) tactics he gives them in training and during matches, so he has to release them instantly.

He can only work with kids as he tells them they have to obey him or they'll never make it in the game just like Keinan Davis.

Expect a conveyor belt of adults through the club, who get temporarily played alongside foetuses.

There’s the quandary. Just how good is Beautyman? We’ll never know. What we do know is that he got man of the match in his one proper appearance; deservedly in my opinion. He was then rewarded by getting dropped. We also know that Pett played a number of games in central midfield and not once did he look like he belonged there. Smith and Gorman also play regularly in the centre of midfield without setting the world alight. Credit where it’s due, I thought Smith was MoM on Monday, but that’s after umpteen games. And I’ve said it before but Sarll is doing a kid like Gorman no favours playing him week in week out in a lightweight midfield as he instantly becomes a scapegoat for miserable bastards like me.

It’s hardly a meritocracy.

Literally every single time he played he showed more urgency, more drive, more creativity and a better passing ability than I have ever seen from Pett this season. Gorman too.

You don’t need to see someone play 15 games before you get an idea of their ability. And sure, maybe after 15 games we’d see he was average, but when the players playing every week are fucking toilet and you have someone available who MIGHT change it, it’s worth a gamble, surely??

Westley knew League Two players can’t play high tempo passing football. If they could, they wouldn’t be in League Two.

Sarll isn’t getting us playing passing football. It’s long ball. But ineffective long ball. He doesn’t know how to win at this level and will insist on playing the same style - “his style” - every week thinking it will eventually come good if you keep switching personnel.

We have the personnel. We just aren’t using them. Sarll will never achieve anything with this club unless he changes his style, forgets trying to play whatever it is he’s trying to play, and starts learning how to be effective.

Precisely, it’s long ball, it’s ugly, it’s largely ineffective.

We have the two best strikers we’ve probably ever had in the Football League who are feeding on scraps as very few opportunities are being carved out for them. Certainly with Godden, we’re just trying to spring the offside trap all the time with hopeful long balls over the top. A wise man said to me on Monday that if we didn’t have them, we’d already be down. We also have Samuel who, similar to Beautyman, gets dropped as soon as he gets MoM. He’ll no doubt be yet another of Sarll’s acquisitions that we’ll never truly know if he’s a good player or not.

Lincoln are long ball. There first play is a long ball. Ours isn't. They smashed us because we couldn't play our passing game.

I know an Everton fan who went to that game and he said we played the better football. I laughed. As I thought we didn't get the opportunity to play any football until they were 3 nil up and sat back then we passed it around getting nowhere much.

How many times on here have I read that we play all this passing stuff but never get anyway. That's my criticism. Not long ball. We try that after we've done the 20 passes that get us nowhere.

I honestly wonder what the fuck you’re watching some times.

People think we play a passing style because occasionally we play very pedestrian lateral passing which gets us nowhere. And because it’s what Sarll did with the Youth, and claims he is trying to do with the First Team.

However, 90% of our play is Wilko bombing it into the channels. Fact.

Unless the style has drastically changed since I left. Which I highly doubt because Sarll can’t devise one strategy let alone change it.

How can you state that without laughing. That's quite clearly not a fact. It's a made up piece of rubbish.

One player who doesn't even get the ball 90% of the time who does about 50% of the time play a long ball.

I get you might disagree because you see 20 long balls in 90 minutes which make you think we are long ball but for the other 85 minutes we are doing other stuff, but you make it hard to take you seriously when you male up stuff and actually believe what you are saying is fact.

Go back to bed.

Other teams manage to play entertaining football in league 2. Christ, we even managed it over two months last year. Funnily enough, it was when the pitches were at their worst. I’d also add that Westley managed it when we got promoted to the FL and managed it for the last half of his last season with us. And no, I don’t think Westley is the answer.

Westley is always the answer, whatever the question may be.

Sev, go to bed. I can’t stay up all night responding to you in the world’s worst game of Darren Sarll ping pong.
