goals scored

Ignoring the surprising 5 we got against a very poor Chesterfield we have now scored just 4 in almost 10 league matches. That's bad but the lack of chances created is even more worrying. We are definitely relegation material at present. Can't even beat 10 men of another poor side. We seem to have no idea about how to change and win a game.

How can anyone say what is being dished up is acceptable - this is almost as dire as it has ever been since we joined the FL. Players not delivering - no passion, no confidence and a team not playing for the manager or even themselves.

If I was PW I would be upset with the whole squad/management - some fans want the shirt far more than the players.

Results are one thing, the manner of results is another.

I now haven't been to a game in a calendar year. But judging by everyone's posts on here it isn't even the results or the position in the table, it's the air of resignation in the performances. That is the hardest thing to address as well. Once a tone manifests itself, it is almost impossible to remove that without an overhaul of the squad or change in Manager.

I would be amazed if Wallace hadn't spent the last 2 weeks speaking to replacements. Bringing anyone in is going to be a gamble, and if finances are as tight as we are led to believe, I struggle to see how we would be willing to poach a manager and pay the release clause.

I would honestly take Westley back, but I know that is incredibly unlikely. I would take Mark Roberts as well, however. If there's one player that embodies the positives of the Westley era without th negatives, it's him.

Westley - PW sacked him, so would he want him back? Lose face / sick of him?

Would GW come back if asked? Probably. But I’ve got no inside track.

I think it highly unlikely GW would be asked or want to return, but I am leaking a little bit of wee thinking about a GW/Roberts combo in the dugout.

Just for the avoidance of doubt, when you say ‘that thought is moistening’ are we thinking about GW/Robbo or me in my armchair thinking?! 😳😊

Because based on the last two months it was the only positive blip - a big assist was the quality of the opposition plus we got a lucky deflected goal. The other 4 were well worked but Chesterfield weren't even a decent Div 2 side that day - we were but for most of the other 10 we haven't looked liked one. We just don't look like scoring most games.

Dean T has just said the performance today was unacceptable - I have been saying this for weeks. We are a very poor side and DS will come out later with the usual excuses. I don't want him to leave but I want a manager who can inspire his side. I hated much of GW but he got many players to play better than we might have expected. Now so much is wrong - the attitude, the tactics, the confidence, etc, etc. Not my preference but GW left after Reading last time - he might be back after Reading this season?

Just glad I saw sense and didn't waste time and money going to Lincoln and Crawley. The only bright spot tonight is Luton losing 4-0 but of course they can afford to! Now we can't afford not to get 3 points v. Cheltenham. Lower league sides must love playing against us. So easy to beat the Boro at present. And I now don't see any talk about making the play offs this season these days - wonder why!

Disappointed, definitely embarrassed but very exceeding angry with today's performance. Lazy players all round. Lightweight squad - this is a team in serious trouble as Deano has just said. As bad as Gary Smith at the moment.

Dean T is right. And the reason why his opinion is regarded highly is because he doesn't say the same thing every single week. He tells it how it is with less bias than most.

Luton's result has no relevance to me or us.

There have been a few unacceptable performances of late and quite a lot more unwanted results.

Yes people have been saying the same thing since October but those are the people I ignore because they just say the same thing every season when we lose and without giving anyone a fair crack.

Sarll has now had a reasonably fair crack at it and come up short.

Some might argue a manager should have the whole season to prove himself and being 10 points off relegation possibly allows that, but given our expectations are to compete for the playoffs that seems unlikely now and therefore do we bring in a new manager and prepare for next season?

No, we're not going down so keep him on till the end of season, then look at it.

If a change is needed I hope we look to keep DS involved somehow.

Teams we have beaten:

Grimsby
Barnet
Cheltenham
Morecambe
Carlisle
Port Vale
Accrington
Chesterfield

Some of those must be like Crawley.

Not sure a manager has ever been demoted.

It's either stick or twist.
