Date I say it but Dan Phillips is overrated. Does a lot of running and is very good at the stuff he is good at but he’s also quite scatty and liable to a head rush, be that the one he had at Bolton last season or playing a hospital pass or two.

I don’t trust him as one of our “defensive midfielders” for that reason. I’d play him more advanced where the mistakes aren’t as much of a concern and we’d benefit from his intensity in the press. That would mean usurping Kemp though and that won’t happen rightly or wrongly.

For the record overrated doesn’t mean I think he’s bad, just not as good as some believe. He’s a run of the mill League One midfielder.
