I have a normal full time job to pay the bills! The SLO role is voluntary. And I knew that when I took on the role. But there are some perks to the job (I get a hug from Revs every week!) but most of what I do is my way of supporting the club as a supporter of the club. Cheesy maybe, it it’s how I see it. I can take most of the grief, but not the personal abuse, either directly or on social media.

This off-season has been challenging and busy for me….! But this is my 5th season as SLO, and so I’ve learnt which battles to fight and which ones to just ride. However every season brings different challenges.

I do however think that there has been a bit of an over reaction regarding closing the ET (or the JBT for the oldies among us!), especially from people who have stated that they weren’t going tonight anyway. As far as I see it, the club held off making a decision to see if ticket sales would suffice to cover the need for the required stewarding on the ET. Operational costs are so tight for every game, probably more-so than some people realise. And Phil has communicated recently again the financial challenges this season. There have also been many personnel changes over the last few months and we all know that change in business brings its own challenges. But I’m confident it will improve.

General communication - yes I understand some people’s concerns, and this will be communicated from me to the relevant people at the club. But from my ‘inside’ view, if anyone thinks the club doesn’t care about supporters, or that Phil is penny pinching is simply not true. I’d rather wait to get the right people into the club rather than getting anyone in just to fill a space. And I’d have Phil as owner of our club over any other owner in L1.

Over everything else, our support of Revs and the squad as a whole is the most important thing, especially in difficult times.
