Usually I would say premature. I think we have a great base to build from in the Championship or League One. The profile of player we will look to add should be the same in either division.

Step one has to be retaining or adequately replacing Harvey White and Charlie Goode.

Step two, quality attacking pace. Our style of play won’t change too much. As I’ve said elsewhere this term I believe we’d score more if we had quicker players in transition. They also have to tick the boxes defensively and be technically sound. This will cost money. It’s an area where I wouldn’t mind us using the loan market so long as we do it well (no lazy dickheads).

There’s been talk of defensive pace, I don’t think it’s as important. We set up in such a way that the centre backs don’t have to be fast. I wouldn’t be against us adding some but it’s not the priority.

Beyond that it’s tweaks. Making sure the players who do come in fit the club culture as much as they fit the playing style and that anyone who leaves is replaced with a better option in their position.
