I think management on the whole has come out of the dark ages and you really don't need to shout at people to get them to perform.

Psychology is firmly on the side of the carrot over the stick and has been for decades now. Maybe football is catching up.

I worked best for bosses that bent over backwards to look after their staff and found that staff worked best for me if I treated them like adults.

You need the strength of character to manage lazy bastards and chancers but they are generally the exception not the rule.
