We were discussing this on Saturday, and suggested that at his age, and having played in the PL and Championship for years already, he may now be at the point he simply wishes to play regularly and enjoy his football, rather than chasing one final payday, and that we could stand a chance of getting him for next season for that reason, and that we are local for him.

We all know that our training ground is a big draw for players, but I genuinely believe the way that Revs and our club treats players is another. The big hugs between Phillips and Revs at FT felt genuine, and Revs clearly makes the players feel valued and cared about as individuals, and treats them well off the pitch, they aren't just another player in the squad.

And football despite the money running through it, is actually quite a small business, with players all talking and quickly finding out about clubs and managers. Look at how we treated Nick Freeman after his injury, listen to what Revs said about that he will be certain to regularly stay in touch with Cornick to make sure he is getting on well with his recovery. There is no reason for us or him to do that, other than because of genuine care for the players and their welfare. Things like that may seem small, but I would suggest go a long way when a player is deciding whether to commit to a club/playing under a manager.
