I still think we will finish top half, yes.
Finishing in the bottom half (even if finishing 13th and so improving on last season) would certainly count as a disappointing season for me, but unless close to the relegation zone and only staying up for certain near the end, or as you say there being obvious signs he has lost the squad or fans completely, I wouldn't say he deserved sacking.
Anything below top ten this season would count as a letdown for me, even though us finishing top half of League One should count as an achievement most seasons.
