Try standing on the northbound platform at 18.53 when the 18.33 from kings cross unloads and tell me the commuters aren't holding the train up.
And all those seats will then be instead available for more London to Peterborough, Grantham, York, Leeds etc journeys, which is what the LNER trains are designed for
