Oh I agree that offloading at the right time is important but surely not buying him in the first place would have been the ideal call if he was "never right for us." A loss is a loss in my book. What is our success rate? Are we hoping to hit one in five? Ten?
I also think there is sometimes value in keeping a player and continuing to loan him out (if the other club is paying a large chunk of the wages and playing him into form).
I do hope we can become a bit smarter in our transfer dealings, albeit we have financial limitations dictating what type of player we can afford (hence the gambles taken on young, injury prone players or those that are inexperienced at this level).
