Town did wear red and white stripes which as you say Athletic carried on the tradition. It’s always been a bit disappointing to me that Boro have mucked about with the shirts. There should be some constant theme (apart from the colour) which would be part of the club’s history/identity. Obviously a new design is needed each season in order to sell the shirts but other clubs seem to manage this whilst still keeping stripes.
