Rochdale had to apply for re-election 6 times in total since the league was restructured into 4 divisions.

Hartlepool actually had to reapply the most times - 11 in total.

The old system was flawed. All member clubs would vote at the AGM whether or not to re-elect the clubs who finished in the bottom 4 and, on the vast amount of occasions, they would stick with the same clubs.

I can only remember Workington (1977) and Southport (1978) being voted out. They were replaced by Wimbledon & Wigan.
