My thoughts on today.

Having confidently predicted we couldn’t lose this, I ended up making myself look an even bigger plank than usual. Dongs were atrocious at football, laughably inept in so many ways, yet we did the charitable Boro thing and willingly brought ourselves down to their level. They then excelled at the shitness, out-shitnessed us, and relied on our kind support to set them up a goal that they otherwise didn’t look like getting.

I normally luuuurve Dan P and won’t hear a word against him, but despite me yelling ‘clear it, clear it!!’ - surely an obvious choice under the circumstances - he needlessly dicked around in that far corner when he had space in front of him to easily launch the thing. Deciding instead to play an easy pass directly to a Dong, it was clear to me then that we were witnessing the stupid mistake that Boro are always contracted to make when playing a beatable team. Thus it proved, as a nano-second after I’d encouraged him by yelling ‘not THERE you twat!’ we had conceded and it was clear my earlier predictions were in the bin and being set on fire. I will never predict another score.

Charlie Goode was good for them I thought. Much as I’d have liked to send him away with a loss in his pocket, I thought he was the rock in their back line and snuffed out a number of our forays forward. I still like him.

We seemed quite headless up front. I do enjoy the new signings and we arguably have the best attacking options we’ve had in years, but our final third petered out far too often today and we needed threats on goal that never came. We’ve got to be more dangerous going forward and know how to break down difficult defences. There was no need to lose that today. Very frustrating.
