I would say we should consider the "Peter Principle" which goes something like "employees are continually promoted based on their success in current roles until they reach a position where they lack the necessary skills"
Id est, if someone is really good at what they do, it doesn't (always) make sense to move that employee away from the thing they are really good at.
Dan Phillips is a very good Stevenage (League 1) player. He should stay with us. 🤣
