I'm not sure you can gauge the second half properly because Reading clearly knew we had no chance of scoring twice, and sat back accordingly waiting for their moment. We were definitely better, but because of the space we were allowed - and we still didn't score - although it was a lot better to watch than the first half.

Criticism of Pidge's passing always makes me laugh - he hits a few into touch but he's probably the best passer of any our defenders, and as you said he can hit the wing backs far more effectively than any of the other choices, as seen last night. He never looks comfortable on the ball, but he does have a good pass in him.

I've said it elsewhere, but if we can find a wide player with pace, and someone to retain and move the ball around in midfield - and Revell enables the team to attack a bit more - then I think we'll be fine. If we try and keep it tight all season with a defence that's not as good as last year then we might be in trouble.
