I’m a 10 game a season supporter these days so I’m kind of limited in terms of objective opinion. However, there clearly needs to be a reality check. We’re a small club that got very close last season to being promoted to the second division. Of the games I saw last season, we played decent - possibly attractive - football at times, but we also played torpid football with little imagination and not a lot of ambition. The word ‘pragmatic’ has been used by my old friend Balders, and I agree that this is predominantly the way the team is set up to play. After all, this is the third division and not many teams have the players with the ability to play flowing possession football. We certainly don’t have them and it’s extremely unlikely that we would ever attract them. That being said, I did come out of the match on Saturday questioning my life choices.

What therefore surprises me is how our manager deserves to endure a middle-aged man screaming abuse at him from 50 yards away, being told to eff off etc, as said punter leaves the North Stand before the final whistle.

By the way, I may have mentioned it before, but I really don’t like our kit (again) this year. Said punter was wearing the away top - mate, you’re too old for it. It doesn’t go with your Skechers.

Edit: just to be clear, I’m not defending the manager. I was particularly perturbed by the way he lined up our subs on Saturday, looking to consolidate a 0-0 before, in the 5 minutes that elapsed, we went a goal down, so he changed the subs (after a further few minutes of wasted time) to enable us to claw back a 1-1 draw. Pragmatism in practice, I suppose.
