I'm sure we had slightly bigger crowds during Evans' time, it felt like it anyway."

~3.4k in our promotion season, 4.6k (our highest ever) in our first season back in L1, just under 4k the season after that, and 4.2k last season (our second-highest ever).

The promotion season is surprisingly low in hindsight, but that isn't helped by small away crowds a lot of the time, whereas many clubs selling out the away end in L1 hugely helps in the average being around, or over 4k. The first season back in L1, riding the crest of the promotion wave and playing many teams for the first time in ages, plus a lot of big clubs, helped attract more home/floating/neutral fans.

Ultimately, thanks to clubs selling out the away end often, we should be averaging around 4k each season in L1 (even that isn't enough to come close to competing), with a relegation to L2 seeing a huge drop thanks to the mixture of considerably smaller clubs bringing considerably fewer fans, plus those clubs attracting far fewer home/floating/neutral fans. Every year we play clubs like Birmingham, Cardiff, Sheffield Weds and Leicester instead of Accrington, Newport and Crawley, adds huge numbers and huge revenue onto our gates. Staying up at this level is so important.
