I think part of the trouble is the route away fans have to take from the station to the ground (they mostly go through the arse end of the town centre), and then find no pubs near the ground/those ones which are frequented are not exactly the nicest places. And then they can't get a beer in the ground.
To them, Stevenage is basically the library end of town, Asda, Maccies, Burger King and The Mutual.
If our ground was built on Barclay school, and their route from the station was instead via the Old Town pubs, restaurants and some 200 year old buildings, fans would have a largely different view
