I'm happy to admit I doubted whether he'd last. He was, and remains, a nice bloke, but he didn't inspire me.

I always thought he'd give 100% but his approach was always "we have to keep working harder".

When hard work was never in doubt.

We had no guile or tactics and were very, very low scorers with low chance creation and worse chance conversion. It was dull.

Now it isn't. He's developed his approach, his tactics and his workforce.
