To be fair, Westley got his squads very fit, but arguably they broke down a lot through over exertion.

Smith encouraged the players to maintain their own fitness. Which is like trusting a fat kid alone in a sweet shop.

Sheringham wasn't really fussed either way. As long as he could be on the 1st tee by 2pm most days.

Sarll got them fitter than they'd been under Sheringham, but that wasn't hard.

I'd imagine Dino will work to a similar fitness regime that Westley sought. So whilst they will have more stamina, we'll also see the weaker/older/really young ones break down more often, as is often the case with elite athletes trying to stay at peak too long.

Peak fitness isn't maintainable very easily, for athletes it's cyclical, albeit from a high base level, they work up towards an event, tail off to recover and then work up again for the next one. Can't do that with footballers, hence they break.

That's my view as a lifelong and very committed gym-avoider anyhow.
